If you are in Tokyo, you have to visit Tokyo Kimono Shoes store. Their shoes are handmade and they upcycle old kimonos to make high quality sneakers, tote bags, ties, purses, and small pouches. Tokyo Kimono Shoes is a small store and the items are beautifully displayed. How the store works: First, know your size. Try on your usual US size then decide if you want to go up or go down in size. After determining your size, the staff will bring out all the shoes that are available in your size. Thus, it is not necessary to look at the shoes displayed as that particular shoes you like may not be available in your size. Finally, you choose the shoes that the staff brings out. The staff spoke good English when I was there. They were very polite and friendly too. Highly recommend everyone to shop at this store, if you are interested in premium quality, unique, and comfortable sneakers

I was looking for something unique as a souvenir that is durable and can last me for a long time, and I finally found it in this shop. While it can be a bit out of the way from the usual tourist attractions at Asakusa, don’t let the distance discourage you from visiting this super underrated store! Why is it underrated? First, every item is handcrafted from up-cycled kimono fabric and leather and hence, every item is one-of-its-kind. This also means you might like the shoes’ design but it might not be of the right size for your feet. Which brings me to my second point - the staff are extremely patient and friendly. In all honesty, I came into the store knowing that I wanted a pair of sneakers, but I don’t have any specific designs / colour in mind (i.e. if I like it, I’ll buy it). So the staff will first assess the right size for my feet, before bringing out a cart (!) of shoes with all sorts of design to try till I’m satisfied. Staff also speak very good English too, so if you don’t speak Japanese or if your Japanese isn’t fluent like mine, fear not! There won’t be communication barriers! I finally picked a pair of shoes for myself and a purse for my mother. After the purchase, I’ve also received an instruction card that guides me with the care instructions, and a handwritten note. すごいね！ But just a small area of improvement - Perhaps each shoe can come with a shoe box (because it will be easier to store it in a box at home to prevent damage rather than leave it open on the shelf) and each shoe box can be unfolded into a flat cardboard so that it wouldn’t take up too much space in the luggage? Just like how when you buy a watch, a box usually accompanies it. 頑張ってください, and I’ll definitely drop by again if I’m visiting Asakusa

It’s such a wonderful artisan store, upcycling beautiful vintage kimonos and giving them new life in the form of exceptionally well-made leather items such as bags, shoes, and other accessories. The quality of these products is absolutely amazing. They are clearly made with great care, built to last, and designed to remain beautiful for years to come. The shop attendants are lovely, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Make sure to stop by if you’re in Tokyo, as they usually have a much wider selection of items than what’s available online. Visiting the store itself is a wonderful experience, and they also offer tax-free shopping for foreign visitors. They also have two sister stores nearby with more casual style kimono and yukata items (which I also love and have purchased many pieces from)

I was looking for a new wallet and found Tokyo Kimono Shoes website. There are so many beautiful shoes and small case available. Placed the order and received the Kimono Fragments case. I was expecting the design shown on the website and it came with a different design. I have tried to reach out to them and Shintaro san has responded me with the explanation. My bad for not reading the notes properly. After using for couple of days I realised the more I look at it, I love it more and more. The quality of this Kimono Fragment case is great. Thank you

The pictures you see here doesn't do this place justice, you need to see it for yourself. Staff was very friendly. Very tourist friendly, staff speaks great English if you're someone still learning Japanese. I got a wallet from here and could not be more happy. Ter conhecido a Tokyo Kimono Shoes foi a melhor coisa que me aconteceu em Tokyo. Como toda a equipe fala inglês, eu pude fazer minhas compras tranquilamente sem problemas na comunicação. Além disso, eu nunca tinha sido tão bem atendida na vida! Os sapatos... não podem ser chamados de sapatos. São obras de arte, estou com dó de usar os meus porque minha vontade é colocá-los em um vidrinho e deixá-lo em exposição na sala... sempre que vejo os meus sapatos, me lembro da minha viagem pra Tokyo e isso me deixa com o coração quentinho. Les chaussures et les sacs sont magnifiques. Mais au-delà de la qualité des produits, cette boutique incarne vraiment l’hospitalité japonaise. I discovered this shop on Google Maps and decided to stop by. The concept is beautifully curated, and the service was outstanding. I didn’t purchase any shoes on this visit, but I bought a bag for myself and another as a gift. Yuna and Roy were incredibly patient and helped me find exactly what I wanted. The last time I was in Tokyo, I made a point to stop by Tokyo Kimono Shoes. I had read about this shop back in the United States and was curious to check them out. Of course, once I actually came into the store, I loved their work so much that I needed up buying not just a small purse but also ordering a custom pair of pumps. The lovely folks at the shop worked with me to make the ordering process very easy. It was expensive but it was worth it to me to have a truly unique, one-of-a-kind pair of shoes. Ordering to shipment took about 2 months but the TKS team was very clear about the deadlines and they met all expectations. I just received the shoes and I love them! They look beautiful, even better than I expected. They fit great - I am a US 8.5W/9W and got size 26 which was recommended by the shop staff. If you're looking for a truly unique gift from Japan, and can afford it, I highly recommend Tokyo Kimono Shoes

I visited 4 different kimono upcycle shops in Asakusa and this was by far the best one (and the one I bought from). I went in with no expectations but their wallets caught my eye. Ended up buying one I liked the aesthetic of. But the staff is really what separated this store from the rest. They were all super friendly and helpful, to both me and several other customers that were also browsing/shopping. When she noticed I was looking at wallets, a woman said they had more designs than what was on display and brought out a whole box with rows of wallets inside and she let me take my time and sift through them one by one. Even though they were sealed in plastic she also encouraged me to open them to see what they look like on the inside as well. I mentioned I liked some of the wallets that had a magnet in them for closure, and she proceeded to go through the box herself to find out which wallets had magnets and separated them from the rest. When I was about to check out after choosing one, her coworker came out from the back with even more wallets that specifically had the magnet in them! I ended up changing my decision right at the end for a design I liked better. During all of this they were very conversational and we talked about my travels through Japan, where their hometowns were, etc. Just an absolutely great vibe in the store all around. There was also a male staff member helping a woman try on shoes and he also seemed friendly and energetic. This store definitely has the best staff in Asakusa

Tokyo Kimono Shoes is a great store with a well laid out interior that makes browsing easy. The staff are incredibly helpful, and a special mention goes to Ryo. His excellent English made the whole experience very comfortable and helped us feel confident with our purchase. The shoes themselves are truly unique, and for anyone looking to take a piece of Japan home with them, this is a fantastic option. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience here, and so happy with the shoes I bought! Was helped by Shintaro and Chihoro and can’t say enough good things. Once they figured out my shoe size, they pretty much brought everything out that would fit. Super patient, and had zero problems putting aside shoes until the next day so I could think about which ones to get. The shoes are beautiful, can’t wait to wear them back home

Since tokyo kimono started, I have been asking abt their shoes. Even after multiple time visits to japan over the years and I still forgot to come over. Finally today, I made it to asakusa, and bought 2 pairs of these beautiful and one of its kind shoes!! So happy about it !! Ryo-san was very accommodating and friendly and speaks great English!! Highly recommended, the shoes are incredible and there is no 2nd pair in this world, hand made and made from kimono fabrics. Definitely artistically beautiful..

My partner and I went to Tokyo Kimono Shoes today and had a wonderful experience! We had discovered Tokyo Kimono Shoes on social media a few months ago and had been looking forward to visiting the store itself during our current trip to Japan. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the amazing people who work there and Shintaro (thank you for the restaurant recommendations!) graciously helped us try on many different styles of shoes (while we had an enjoyable conversation about "Final Fantasy" games!) The experience was truly wonderful and I absolutely love the shoes I bought. If you're in Tokyo please do yourself a favour and visit this store. The quality and artistry of their products is truly amazing and you will feel like you've purchased something that's one of a kind. We plan to return again for our next trip

Last year I saw their beautiful shoes online and ordered a pair, shipped to my home in the US. When they arrived they more than lived up to the hype, I was so pleased and amazed at the quality and attention to detail. I was able to visit their store in Tokyo recently, where we were greeted warmly. The store had a wonderful collection with all sorts of unique temptations. I bought a lovely card case for the Mrs., and they gifted us a couple of cool key chains. I would highly recommend a visit in person, or at least their online shop. You will not be disappointed. We were very happy with our experience! The cost of the shoe is minimum ¥44,000 which was a shock to us. But after the care that the staff took and the understanding of the craftsmanship that goes into the shoes, the cost made sense. We got the Orchid and Lily shoe. They have a size chart for varying countries so the conversion was easy. They also have kimono shaped keychains, kimono print strap keychains, kimono print card cases, and kimono print passport holders

His excellent English made the whole experience very comfortable and helped us feel confident with our purchase. Fantastic experience here, and so happy with the shoes I bought! Was helped by Shintaro and Chihoro and can’t say enough good things. Once they figured out my shoe size, they pretty much brought everything out that would fit. Super patient, and had zero problems putting aside shoes until the next day so I could think about which ones to get. The shoes are beautiful, can’t wait to wear them back home

Since tokyo kimono started, I have been asking abt their shoes. Even after multiple time visits to japan over the years and I still forgot to come over. Finally today, I made it to asakusa, and bought 2 pairs of these beautiful and one of its kind shoes!! So happy about it !! Ryo-san was very accommodating and friendly and speaks great English!! Highly recommended, the shoes are incredible and there is no 2nd pair in this world, hand made and made from kimono fabrics. Definitely artistically beautiful..

My partner and I went to Tokyo Kimono Shoes today and had a wonderful experience! We had discovered Tokyo Kimono Shoes on social media a few months ago and had been looking forward to visiting the store itself during our current trip to Japan. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the amazing people who work there and Shintaro (thank you for the restaurant recommendations!) graciously helped us try on many different styles of shoes (while we had an enjoyable conversation about "Final Fantasy" games!) The experience was truly wonderful and I absolutely love the shoes I bought. If you're in Tokyo please do yourself a favour and visit this store. Last year I saw their beautiful shoes online and ordered a pair, shipped to my home in the US. When they arrived they more than lived up to the hype, I was so pleased and amazed at the quality and attention to detail. I was able to visit their store in Tokyo recently, where we were greeted warmly. The store had a wonderful collection with all sorts of unique temptations. I bought a lovely card case for the Mrs., and they gifted us a couple of cool key chains. I would highly recommend a visit in person, or at least their online shop. You will not be disappointed. We were very happy with our experience! The cost of the shoe is minimum ¥44,000 which was a shock to us. But after the care that the staff took and the understanding of the craftsmanship that goes into the shoes, the cost made sense. We got the Orchid and Lily shoe. They have a size chart for varying countries so the conversion was easy. They also have kimono shaped keychains, kimono print strap keychains, kimono print card cases, and kimono print passport holders

If you are in Tokyo, you have to visit Tokyo Kimono Shoes store. Their shoes are handmade and they upcycle old kimonos to make high quality sneakers, tote bags, ties, purses, and small pouches. Tokyo Kimono Shoes is a small store and the items are beautifully displayed. How the store works: First, know your size. Try on your usual US size then decide if you want to go up or go down in size. After determining your size, the staff will bring out all the shoes that are available in your size. Thus, it is not necessary to look at the shoes displayed as that particular shoes you like may not be available in your size. Finally, you choose the shoes that the staff brings out. The staff spoke good English when I was there. They were very polite and friendly too. Highly recommend everyone to shop at this store, if you are interested in premium quality, unique, and comfortable sneakers

I was looking for something unique as a souvenir that is durable and can last me for a long time, and I finally found it in this shop. While it can be a bit out of the way from the usual tourist attractions at Asakusa, don’t let the distance discourage you from visiting this super underrated store! Why is it underrated? First, every item is handcrafted from up-cycled kimono fabric and leather and hence, every item is one-of-its-kind. This also means you might like the shoes’ design but it might not be of the right size for your feet. Which brings me to my second point - the staff are extremely patient and friendly. In all honesty, I came into the store knowing that I wanted a pair of sneakers, but I don’t have any specific designs / colour in mind (i.e. if I like it, I’ll buy it). So the staff will first assess the right size for my feet, before bringing out a cart (!) of shoes with all sorts of design to try till I’m satisfied. Staff also speak very good English too, so if you don’t speak Japanese or if your Japanese isn’t fluent like mine, fear not! There won’t be communication barriers! I finally picked a pair of shoes for myself and a purse for my mother. After the purchase, I’ve also received an instruction card that guides me with the care instructions, and a handwritten note. すごいね！ But just a small area of improvement - Perhaps each shoe can come with a shoe box (because it will be easier to store it in a box at home to prevent damage rather than leave it open on the shelf) and each shoe box can be unfolded into a flat cardboard so that it wouldn’t take up too much space in the luggage? Just like how when you buy a watch, a box usually accompanies it. 頑張ってください, and I’ll definitely drop by again if I’m visiting Asakusa

It’s such a wonderful artisan store, upcycling beautiful vintage kimonos and giving them new life in the form of exceptionally well-made leather items such as bags, shoes, and other accessories. The quality of these products is absolutely amazing. They are clearly made with great care, built to last, and designed to remain beautiful for years to come. The shop attendants are lovely, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Make sure to stop by if you’re in Tokyo, as they usually have a much wider selection of items than what’s available online. Visiting the store itself is a wonderful experience, and they also offer tax-free shopping for foreign visitors. They also have two sister stores nearby with more casual style kimono and yukata items (which I also love and have purchased many pieces from)

The last time I was in Tokyo, I made a point to stop by Tokyo Kimono Shoes. I had read about this shop back in the United States and was curious to check them out. Of course, once I actually came into the store, I loved their work so much that I needed up buying not just a small purse but also ordering a custom pair of pumps. The lovely folks at the shop worked with me to make the ordering process very easy. It was expensive but it was worth it to me to have a truly unique, one-of-a-kind pair of shoes. Ordering to shipment took about 2 months but the TKS team was very clear about the deadlines and they met all expectations. I just received the shoes and I love them! They look beautiful, even better than I expected. They fit great - I am a US 8.5W/9W and got size 26 which was recommended by the shop staff. If you're looking for a truly unique gift from Japan, and can afford it, I highly recommend Tokyo Kimono Shoes

I visited 4 different kimono upcycle shops in Asakusa and this was by far the best one (and the one I bought from). I went in with no expectations but their wallets caught my eye. Ended up buying one I liked the aesthetic of. But the staff is really what separated this store from the rest. They were all super friendly and helpful, to both me and several other customers that were also browsing/shopping. When she noticed I was looking at wallets, a woman said they had more designs than what was on display and brought out a whole box with rows of wallets inside and she let me take my time and sift through them one by one. Even though they were sealed in plastic she also encouraged me to open them to see what they look like on the inside as well. I mentioned I liked some of the wallets that had a magnet in them for closure, and she proceeded to go through the box herself to find out which wallets had magnets and separated them from the rest. When I was about to check out after choosing one, her coworker came out from the back with even more wallets that specifically had the magnet in them! I ended up changing my decision right at the end for a design I liked better. During all of this they were very conversational and we talked about my travels through Japan, where their hometowns were, etc. Just an absolutely great vibe in the store all around. There was also a male staff member helping a woman try on shoes and he also seemed friendly and energetic. This store definitely has the best staff in Asakusa

Como é na região de Asakusa, ao sair da loja, consegui ver sakuras no rio Sumida, fui no Templo de senso-ji e no Tokyo Skytree! A localização é muito conveniente. Les chaussures et les sacs sont magnifiques. Mais au-delà de la qualité des produits, cette boutique incarne vraiment l’hospitalité japonaise. I discovered this shop on Google Maps and decided to stop by. The concept is beautifully curated, and the service was outstanding. I didn’t purchase any shoes on this visit, but I bought a bag for myself and another as a gift. Yuna and Roy were incredibly patient and helped me find exactly what I wanted. The last time I was in Tokyo, I made a point to stop by Tokyo Kimono Shoes. I had read about this shop back in the United States and was curious to check them out. Of course, once I actually came into the store, I loved their work so much that I needed up buying not just a small purse but also ordering a custom pair of pumps. The lovely folks at the shop worked with me to make the ordering process very easy. It was expensive but it was worth it to me to have a truly unique, one-of-a-kind pair of shoes. Ordering to shipment took about 2 months but the TKS team was very clear about the deadlines and they met all expectations. I just received the shoes and I love them! They look beautiful, even better than I expected. They fit great - I am a US 8.5W/9W and got size 26 which was recommended by the shop staff. If you're looking for a truly unique gift from Japan, and can afford it, I highly recommend Tokyo Kimono Shoes

I visited 4 different kimono upcycle shops in Asakusa and this was by far the best one (and the one I bought from). I went in with no expectations but their wallets caught my eye. Ended up buying one I liked the aesthetic of. But the staff is really what separated this store from the rest. They were all super friendly and helpful, to both me and several other customers that were also browsing/shopping. When she noticed I was looking at wallets, a woman said they had more designs than what was on display and brought out a whole box with rows of wallets inside and she let me take my time and sift through them one by one. Even though they were sealed in plastic she also encouraged me to open them to see what they look like on the inside as well. I mentioned I liked some of the wallets that had a magnet in them for closure, and she proceeded to go through the box herself to find out which wallets had magnets and separated them from the rest. When I was about to check out after choosing one, her coworker came out from the back with even more wallets that specifically had the magnet in them! I ended up changing my decision right at the end for a design I liked better. During all of this they were very conversational and we talked about my travels through Japan, where their hometowns were, etc. Just an absolutely great vibe in the store all around. There was also a male staff member helping a woman try on shoes and he also seemed friendly and energetic. This store definitely has the best staff in Asakusa

His excellent English made the whole experience very comfortable and helped us feel confident with our purchase. Fantastic experience here, and so happy with the shoes I bought! Was helped by Shintaro and Chihoro and can’t say enough good things. Once they figured out my shoe size, they pretty much brought everything out that would fit. Super patient, and had zero problems putting aside shoes until the next day so I could think about which ones to get. The shoes are beautiful, can’t wait to wear them back home

Since tokyo kimono started, I have been asking abt their shoes. Even after multiple time visits to japan over the years and I still forgot to come over. Finally today, I made it to asakusa, and bought 2 pairs of these beautiful and one of its kind shoes!! So happy about it !! Ryo-san was very accommodating and friendly and speaks great English!! Highly recommended, the shoes are incredible and there is no 2nd pair in this world, hand made and made from kimono fabrics. Definitely artistically beautiful..

My partner and I went to Tokyo Kimono Shoes today and had a wonderful experience! We had discovered Tokyo Kimono Shoes on social media a few months ago and had been looking forward to visiting the store itself during our current trip to Japan. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the amazing people who work there and Shintaro (thank you for the restaurant recommendations!) graciously helped us try on many different styles of shoes (while we had an enjoyable conversation about "Final Fantasy" games!) The experience was truly wonderful and I absolutely love the shoes I bought. If you're in Tokyo please do yourself a favour and visit this store. The quality and artistry of their products is truly amazing and you will feel like you've purchased something that's one of a kind. We plan to return again for our next trip

Last year I saw their beautiful shoes online and ordered a pair, shipped to my home in the US. When they arrived they more than lived up to the hype, I was so pleased and amazed at the quality and attention to detail. I was able to visit their store in Tokyo recently, where we were greeted warmly. The store had a wonderful collection with all sorts of unique temptations. I bought a lovely card case for the Mrs., and they gifted us a couple of cool key chains. I would highly recommend a visit in person, or at least their online shop. You will not be disappointed. We were very happy with our experience! The cost of the shoe is minimum ¥44,000 which was a shock to us. But after the care that the staff took and the understanding of the craftsmanship that goes into the shoes, the cost made sense. We got the Orchid and Lily shoe. They have a size chart for varying countries so the conversion was easy. They also have kimono shaped keychains, kimono print strap keychains, kimono print card cases, and kimono print passport holders

If you are in Tokyo, you have to visit Tokyo Kimono Shoes store. Their shoes are handmade and they upcycle old kimonos to make high quality sneakers, tote bags, ties, purses, and small pouches. Tokyo Kimono Shoes is a small store and the items are beautifully displayed. How the store works: First, know your size. Try on your usual US size then decide if you want to go up or go down in size. After determining your size, the staff will bring out all the shoes that are available in your size. Thus, it is not necessary to look at the shoes displayed as that particular shoes you like may not be available in your size. Finally, you choose the shoes that the staff brings out. The staff spoke good English when I was there. They were very polite and friendly too. Highly recommend everyone to shop at this store, if you are interested in premium quality, unique, and comfortable sneakers

I was looking for something unique as a souvenir that is durable and can last me for a long time, and I finally found it in this shop. While it can be a bit out of the way from the usual tourist attractions at Asakusa, don’t let the distance discourage you from visiting this super underrated store! Why is it underrated? First, every item is handcrafted from up-cycled kimono fabric and leather and hence, every item is one-of-its-kind. This also means you might like the shoes’ design but it might not be of the right size for your feet. Which brings me to my second point - the staff are extremely patient and friendly. In all honesty, I came into the store knowing that I wanted a pair of sneakers, but I don’t have any specific designs / colour in mind (i.e. if I like it, I’ll buy it). So the staff will first assess the right size for my feet, before bringing out a cart (!) of shoes with all sorts of design to try till I’m satisfied. Staff also speak very good English too, so if you don’t speak Japanese or if your Japanese isn’t fluent like mine, fear not! There won’t be communication barriers! I finally picked a pair of shoes for myself and a purse for my mother. After the purchase, I’ve also received an instruction card that guides me with the care instructions, and a handwritten note. すごいね！ But just a small area of improvement - Perhaps each shoe can come with a shoe box (because it will be easier to store it in a box at home to prevent damage rather than leave it open on the shelf) and each shoe box can be unfolded into a flat cardboard so that it wouldn’t take up too much space in the luggage? Just like how when you buy a watch, a box usually accompanies it. 頑張ってください, and I’ll definitely drop by again if I’m visiting Asakusa

It’s such a wonderful artisan store, upcycling beautiful vintage kimonos and giving them new life in the form of exceptionally well-made leather items such as bags, shoes, and other accessories. The quality of these products is absolutely amazing. They are clearly made with great care, built to last, and designed to remain beautiful for years to come. The shop attendants are lovely, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Make sure to stop by if you’re in Tokyo, as they usually have a much wider selection of items than what’s available online. Visiting the store itself is a wonderful experience, and they also offer tax-free shopping for foreign visitors. They also have two sister stores nearby with more casual style kimono and yukata items (which I also love and have purchased many pieces from)

I was expecting the design shown on the website and it came with a different design. I have tried to reach out to them and Shintaro san has responded me with the explanation.
